Workout Motivation for the day after Thanksgiving

Hello friends!

I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving!

I had a wonderful day with my family.

But it’s Friday and time to get back into my daily routine. Unlike many of my fitness friends, I did not do a workout yesterday. I woke up just in time to grab a cup of coffee and plant my tush on the couch to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with my son. Then, we got started on prepping the food.. and enjoyed the day. It was really nice.

I had this delicious piece of pumpkin pie and my heart was full. No regrets.

And confession time… I had another piece later on in the evening. And a piece for breakfast. ha! I love pumpkin pie. 🙂

If you’re like me, then the thought of working out this morning makes you want to crawl back into bed, hide under the covers, and take a nice long nap. Or sit on the couch and binge watch Netflix, or have a movie marathon… yeah.. I think you sense the pattern here.

The secret to gaining that holiday weight?

Giving in to that feeling. Allowing yourself to skip a workout or two. Continuing to eat massive amounts of food.

All in all, there are just a few days where we are eating the holiday comfort food and all the delicious goodies.

Continuing to eat like it’s a holiday for the next month will ensure that you gain 5 -10 pounds and feel horrible about yourself.

Get up and do something today.

Have your coffee. Have your yummy left overs today. But get up and move.

(No, we are not counting Black Friday Shopping as cardio.)

Go for a walk. Do some yoga or Pilates. Throw in a fun exercise video. Put on some festive music and dance around your house for an hour. If you are feeling ambitious, go for a run or bike ride. (weather permitting.)

Just. Do. Something.

With that said, here’s what I don’t want you to do.

-Don’t beat yourself up.

-Don’t tear yourself down.

-Don’t punish yourself with a grueling cardio workout.

And now for the good stuff.

Here’s a little motivation to help get you going today. 🙂

 

You are entirely up to you. Make your body. Make your life. Make yourself.

#TIU31 Day 31 | Fitness Challenge

Today is the very last day of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge! Day 31!

Today’s workout – 6 daily moves + Total Body Tone Up + Cardio. I completed the daily moves this morning. Then, this evening we went for a nice one hour walk around the neighborhood – Trick or Treat!! Thankfully it wasn’t too cold this year. 🙂

Now we are relaxing and watching my favorite, Hocus Pocus.

#TIU31 Day 30 | Fitness Challenge

Today is day 30 of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge. The workout – 5 daily moves with a foam roller + a 10k run. I don’t have a foam roller and my body still isn’t up for a full cardio session. I decided to roll out my mat and do some yoga. 🙂

#TIU31 Day 29 | Fitness Challenge

Hello friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Saturday!

Today is day 29 of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge. It’s hard to believe that October is almost over.

The workout for today – 5 Daily moves, 31 reps each + 30 minutes of Cardio.

I spent two hours this afternoon outside enjoying the sun. My son and I raked leaves in the yard and had a blast jumping into the giant pile we created! It was a perfect Saturday afternoon. With a little modification, I completed the 5 daily moves. I ended the evening with a little yoga.

Day 29 was a success!

#TIU31 Day 28 | Fitness Challenge

Hello sweet friends! How are you doing?

It is day 28 of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge.  If you’ve been following my journey with this challenge, you know that I missed day 26 and day 27.

Where have I been?

Long story short – I was sick.

It’s that time of year. It hasn’t been fun. If your body craves exercise and you are passionate about fitness as I am, you know how much it kills your spirit to not be able to work out. But sometimes our bodies are extremely good at letting us know when it is time to rest. When we don’t listen and continue to engage in a lot of activity, injuries happen, or in my case, you get sick.

Today was the first day that I was able to roll out my mat and engage in activity. I’m easing back in with yoga. So, no daily moves. No cardio. No weights. None of that. With only two days left of this challenge, I will finish strong with what I am physically able to do.

That basically means .. Yoga. Maybe some weights tomorrow. I’ll take it day by day.

The local meteorologists promise gorgeous weather tomorrow. It may be nice to get outside, enjoy some sunshine, rake some leaves, and jump into giant piles like a kid.

It is day 25 of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge! Today’s workout – Daily moves, 45 minutes of cardio, and the Band Workout. I’ll admit, this morning was a little tough. I made it through the daily moves and added in yoga. This evening I did another mixed martial arts cardio session and the Band Workout. I’m feeling great!

#TIU31 Day 24 | Fitness Challenge

Today is day 24 of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge. The workout – Daily moves + Cardio + Yoga.  I started the day with 30 minutes of a martial arts inspired workout and yoga. This evening, I completed the daily moves, which were quite challenging. I also did a little more yoga.

Day 24 was a success!

Today is day 23 of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge. One week left of this challenge!! 🙂 I’m pretty excited about that! 😉

The workout for today was 5 daily moves using a foam roller and a 5k. I don’t own a foam roller and I am not a runner. I opted to do yoga instead. This was a much better option for me today because I’m not feeling well. So, I was able to move my body in a productive way and (hopefully) it will help me get back to feeling 100%. Side note, I am getting in a little cardio running around my house, trying to tidy up a bit. We will be having a visitor tomorrow. We’re pretty excited. 🙂

Today is day 22 of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge. The workout – 5 daily moves, 31 reps + Cardio. I started the day with some yoga and a mat workout. I did the daily moves and cardio this afternoon. 🙂

#TIU31 Day 21 | Fitness Challenge

Hello friends!

Fall has finally arrived and brought cool temps and rainy, gray skies. It was a perfect day for homemade chili! 🙂 YUM!

Today is day 21 of the Tone It Up Fall Fitness Challenge. Hard to believe there are only 10 days left. I’ve already set my sights on a new fitness program I would like to try out in November. I’m looking forward to it!

Today’s workout – 5 daily moves, 31 reps each + Cardio. I started the morning out with some much needed yoga. Then, I completed my daily moves and cardio. It was great to be able to get it all done early on in the day.

Day 21 was a success!
